Did You Know? 3.0

Over time, technology is increasing and it has a major impact over the world. In fact, the technology is so much more advanced than ever before, I begin to wonder where we will be in 20 years. Technology can be useful or it can be dangerous.

Technology can be useful for education purposes. It helps us to do research on many things. These things can range from how to do something or to know what is going on in the world. It keeps our mind aware of the environment.

Technology can be dangerous. On the video, it showed that 1 out of 8 married couples in United States met online in 2007. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but it shows the dangers of predators looking for preys online. Not everyone will say exactly who they are online. There is no protection. Another downside of technology is that it can take control of some people's lives. It causes some to be lazy and not to be active, which is not good.

I have no problem with technology. It help me a lot through school!! If I need to write a research paper or something like that, technology will help me. I am thankful for that.

  1. Life is dangerous, if want to look at it that way.

I watched the football games yesterday. I rarely watch TV, maybe 30 minutes a week and that is always a sporting even. But what I was taken aback by yesterday is the ads (and there were lots of them). They were most often ads for TV shows of violence, murder, mayhem. News shows are the same. So should we ban TV and movies, even if we could. It is also easy to find books, even comic books, that are filled with violence. I don't think you can blame technology for that.

Please put all of your responses to the assignments for a week in one post from now on. It saves me about 5 minutes a comment. Just separate your remarks with headers that you make bold.

  3. I never really hear of many people in their 20+ year of life being the victim online because they are already aware and have been exposed to such things in the media.
I do however understand that the young may be a little vulnerable to such advances from the scum of the earth, but that comes back to education; educating someone on the use of devices and the benefits and issues that may surface is essential. Every parent hopes they can trust their son or daughter to do the right thing, when at age thirty seven I do dumb things every day. It's not about trust, it is about developing critical thinking so that they are aware of problems and go into them with a level of understanding. I would actually rather it was happening online than in the street because as a diligent parent I have a chance of stopping it. On the street, more predators are offline, the innocent fall victim everyday. The lesson is universal....make the children aware and keep an eye on them.

  4. The U. S. has a problem with obesity and I do believe that the lack of outside activity and the increase of internet usage has made a contribution to this problem, especially in children.
